Stars of the North Drum Group are from the Tlowitisis-Mumtagila Nation, located on the northern part of Vancouver Island, Turner Island/Alert Bay BC. The group was created by Ladonna Wiks in 2009, and includes her six daughters. Songs performed are written by LaDonna, with some assistance from her daughters and other family members. The songs are based on stories told by her Elders, visions of her culture and heritage, and by implementing their Kwakwala language. The button blankets and aprons they wear are stitched by LaDonna with the guidance of her Elder and auntie Elizabeth Dyson, mother Laura Joseph, and other family members. They have recorded two CDs that include 16 songs.
